With their new movie set to hit theaters on August 29th, the stars of "Lawless" garnered themselves a little added exposure by covering the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain teamed up for the dapper Fabrizio Maltese shot front page while dishing all about their upcoming John Hillcoat directed crime/drama in the feature article.
A few highlights from the "Lawless" stars' interviews are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to The Hollywood Reporter!
Shia LaBeouf on why he wanted to do ?Lawless?:
"I saw a vulnerability in [director] John [Hillcoat] that I'd never seen in a director. I thought this dude would be able to capture some truth. One of the first things he said to me was, 'What do you think about making GoodFellas in the woods?' It sounded great."
Jessica Chastain on her reasons for signing on to a gangster movie:
"I knew immediately [Hillcoat] was someone I wanted to work with. I am a big fan of The Proposition. I hadn't even read the script, but I told him, 'If you cast me, I'll do it.' I approach every role in terms of: 'Have I done this before? Is it something I'm repeating?' Lawless offered a new opportunity."
Shia LaBeouf on how an initial struggle to get funding paid off at Cannes:
?We were the ugly duckling that fell through the cracks that Harvey Weinstein found and is now nourishing."
